'Kèk mè nâh!!!' The lackadaisical and loud-mouthed resident of The Hague has his own exhibition at the Hague Historical Museum.

Hague Harry is a icon of The Hague. The seven albums featuring his adventures sold hundreds of thousands of copies. The coarse-mouthed, anti-social and politically incorrect Harry was created by cartoonist Marnix Rueb (1955-2014). Haagse Harry is an (anti)hero, we in The Hague are proud of - despite his many faults. Moreover, the Hague dialect got a huge boost, as all the characters in the strip speak common Haags.

Over 50 original Harry drawings are on view in the exhibition. Other drawings by Marnix Rueb are also on display. They come from his private archive and were rarely or never publicly shown. A feast of recognition for fans of the first hour, for others perhaps a first acquaintance with our Harry - in his 'camping smoking', with his inseparable mullet.

Stand-up comedian (and friend of Marnix Rueb) Sjaak Bral is guest curator of the exhibition. Nienke Rueb-van Akkeren made material from Marnix Rueb's archive available.
