Museum Quarter

Combine your visit to the Hague Historical Museum with another museum in the city. We offer some suggestions to make your day in The Hague even more fun.

In addition to our museum, there are 13 other cultural hotspots around the historic Hofvijver, the Binnenhof and the stately Lange Voorhout. All within walking distance of each other. Together they form the Museum Quarter of The Hague. Highly recommended for a cultural day.

Discover the Museum Quarter

The Hague is rich in history, art and wonderful treasures. In the Museum Quarter, old classics, well-known masters and young talents come together in the museums and theaters in the city. Discover Rembrandt and Vermeer in the Mauritshuis, be amazed by the optical illusions of Escher in het Paleis and meet new talent in the Koninklijke Schouwburg and Theater Diligentia. Visit the historical Kloosterkerk at the Lange Voorhout. Don't forget to take a walk around the Binnenhof: the political heart of the Netherlands for 800 years (and now undergoing renovation).

Also visit the Prison Gate Museum (Rijksmuseum de Gevangenpoort), 'the most thrilling outing in The Hague', Museum Bredius with its special private art collection, Galerij Willem V, the oldest museum in The Hague and ANNA’s Kiss & Ride at Korte Vijverberg 2 and Lange Houtstraat 8. Contemporary visual art can be found at West Den Haag (in the former American embassy) and with artists' circle Pulchri Studio

AR Route in the Museum Quarter
Do you want to experience the Museum Quarter with different eyes? Then walk the Augmented Reality (AR) Route. With the AR route you meet the historical people who really walked around here. Have your picture taken with child star Mozart who has just performed for the Haagse Hof, or meet Mata Hari at Hotel Des Indes. You can easily recognize the red wax seals on the street and scan the codes at each point. The explanation of the web app can be found here. Discover this AR Route with your friends or with your whole family.
